Secret #39 Darcy Gilmore
I met Darcy at my friend Silvia’s Birthday party. Silvia invited her closest girlfriends to join her at the UXU Dude ranch in Wyoming. Real cowboys taught us how to shoot, fly fish, plunge into freezing rivers and ride our horses through rivers, up mountain trails and along rocky cliffs. Our tushies sustained six hour rides. Somehow my new friend Darcy managed to look fresh and dewey after every activity. I have always admired a woman that manages to keep that airbrushed quality to her skin. Darcy is one of those gals. She does have an advantage. Darcy is an artist. A make-up artist to the stars. I asked her to give us some of her trade secrets and this is what she shared:
Ladies in case you have not noticed, we are in a recession. But that does not mean that it needs to show on your face!! And, it’s not necessary to feel guilty about spending because I have found inexpensive and easy ways to look great everyday.
CLINIQUE SUPERMOISTURE MAKEUP. ($22.00) It reads that it has a moderate coverage but it can be used sparingly where you don’t need it or applied in thin layers for a complete coverage. Also, it is so nice looking on the skin that I think for most people it is enough to use also as a concealer and seldom do I even powder it. Ever.
ALMAY SMART SHADE BLUSH ($9.99). This products marries great with the cream or liquid foundation because it matches consistencies and is easily applied with clean fingertips. I love that it is not liquid or a gel like a lot of the pricier versions and does a better job of looking natural.
REVLON LIPSTICK ($7.99). And no I am not kidding about this. Recently I did a Red Carpet Oscar Pre Show Makeup……and guess what lipstick I used? Revlon. The price is so low I ended up using 2 colors and mixed them first with my spatula and found literally the most beautiful summer red I have ever seen. Well maybe not ever but this year so far. Use an old butter knife, or purchase a spatula at any craft store to mix and match old lipsticks. Then you literally save tons of money during this recession.
Good luck, Darcy
