Secret #9 Morning Ritual

This is yet another secret that will cost you next to nothing and the benefits are priceless. How many of you reluctantly wake up, press the snooze button 12 times, or bolt to the kitchen for a cup of coffee to jump start your system? Thought so.

What if I told you that by creating a peaceful morning ritual you could actually add years to your life, reduce your blood pressure, increase your cognitive abilities and readjust your mental and emotional state for the entire day? Impossible?

NO, my friends.  This is the one gift you can give yourself that will ultimately change your life.

STEP #1. Make sure you wake up an hour earlier each morning so you have time for your “sacred morning ritual”

STEP#2. Before leaving your bed…lie very still…breathe slowly and deeply for10 full breaths. (If you are sharing a bed with someone you love, give them a kiss or a hug before leaving the room…optional of course).

STEP #3. Find a place in your home that is quiet and unoccupied. Light a candle and sit in cross legged position(if this is uncomfortable, lie still or sit in a chair).Begin breathing slowly through your nose, quiet your mind as much as possible. Take a few moments to be still and thankful for the chance to begin another day. You may take this time to pray, meditate, sing or write something in a journal.

This is your morning ritual and you may have your own personal intentions.

STEP #4. Ideally, this would also be a great time to stretch or do a series of yoga
poses to get your body moving. Some of you may go for a walk or a run. It’s a great way to begin your day.

STEP #5. Fuel your body with a healthy breakfast, water,vitamins…green tea. If you must, a nice cup of coffee is acceptable(as long as it is not the first part of your ritual).
